Ingredients

Scale

6 small-to-medium apples (Granny Smith recommended)

2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup light corn syrup

1/2 cup water

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Food coloring (to match Kool-Aid flavors)

2 packets Kool-Aid powder (e.g. cherry, blue raspberry)

Candy sticks or wooden skewers

Cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

1. Remove stems from apples and insert sticks. Dip in hot water briefly to remove wax and dry completely.

2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.

3. Boil the mixture until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

4. Divide mixture into two bowls. Add a different Kool-Aid flavor and matching food color to each.

5. Dip each apple into one color. Spoon the second color over it to create a swirl.

6. Let excess drip off and place on a parchment-lined tray to harden.

7. Let cool for 30 minutes before serving or wrapping.
