Ingredients

Granulated sugar 1 cup
Light corn syrup ½ cup
Water ¼ cup
Citric acid 1 teaspoon
Baking soda ½ teaspoon
Candy flavoring oil 1 teaspoon
Gel food coloring A few drops (optional)

Instructions

  • Prep the mold: Lightly grease silicone candy molds and set aside.

  • Mix & boil: In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.

  • Heat to 300°F: Use a candy thermometer and heat the mixture without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (300°F / 149°C).

  • Remove from heat: Quickly stir in flavoring, citric acid, baking soda, and food coloring. The mix will foam lightly — that’s the fizz magic!

  • Pour & cool: Carefully pour the mixture into molds. Let it cool at room temperature for 30 minutes or until hardened.

  • Enjoy: Pop a piece into your mouth and enjoy the crackling sensation.
